Sharpie
In the
USA,
Sharpie often refers to a type of permanent
marker manufactured by the
Sanford company. While a Sharpie is a
brand name, its widespread use has resulted in the use of "Sharpie" as a term describing any type of permanent marker, often black or red colored.
The marker saw national controversy in the United States in when American football player Terrell Owens used a marker to sign a ball in the middle of a 2002 game.
