She was born in Kennett, Missouri.
Participated in Lilith Fair, the all woman rock tour. Among her best known songs are "All I Wanna Do, "A Change Would Do You Good", "Every Day Is a Winding Road", "My Favorite Mistake", and "Soak Up The Sun". In 1995, Sheryl Crow contributed the song "D'Yer Mak'er" to the Encomium tribute album to Led Zeppelin. Crow also co-wrote and performed Tomorrow Never Dies, the title song from the eponymous 1997 James Bond movie.
