Sidcup
Sidcup is a place in the
London Borough of Bexley in
Kent,
England. It has absorbed the villages of Blackfen, Foots Cray and Lamorbey. The tallest building in Sidcup is the sixteen-storey office block Marlowe House (
1966) next to the railway station. The old manor house is now used for civil marriage ceremonies. An Art School nearby was once attended by
Mick Jagger; it has recently been demolished to make way for a large modern supermarket. The cinema was demolished in 2003. The Doreen Bird dance school is situated just north of the town centre. There is a major hospital to the south of the town centre next to the busy A20 Sidcup by pass. There are several scenic parks and historic churches in the area, occasional landmarks in a largely residential dormitory suburb. Businesses operating from the town centre, including an internet cafe, are listed at the website
