Silicon Forest
By analogy with the
Silicon Valley, the
Silicon Forest is a nickname for the
Portland metropolitan area in
Oregon. It refers to the cluster of
high tech companies present there, which specialize in
and related areas.
The industries which came to be known as part of the Silicon Forest date back to the 1940s, in particular Tektronix and Electro Scientific Industries.
