census of 2000, there are 331 people, 121 households, and 78 families residing in the town. The population density is 103.9/km² (269.8/mi²). There are 144 housing units at an average density of 45.2/km² (117.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 25.38% White, 73.11% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.60% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.91% from other races, and 0.00% from two or more races. 2.42% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 121 households out of which 25.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 28.1% are married couples living together, 29.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 35.5% are non-families. 28.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 17.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.74 and the average family size is 3.38. In the town the population is spread out with 27.2% under the age of 18, 11.2% from 18 to 24, 22.1% from 25 to 44, 23.6% from 45 to 64, and 16.0% who are 65 years of age or older.
