Springettsbury Township is a township located in York County, Pennsylvania. As of the 2000 census, the township had a total population of 23,883.

Geography

United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 43.4 km² (16.7 mi²). 43.4 km² (16.7 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

Demographics

\nAs of the
census of 2000, there are 23,883 people, 9,230 households, and 6,359 families residing in the township. The population density is 550.9/km² (1,426.5/mi²). There are 9,483 housing units at an average density of 218.7/km² (566.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the township is 91.14% White, 4.28% African American, 0.11% Native American, 2.46% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 0.97% from other races, and 1.01% from two or more races. 2.77% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 9,230 households out of which 27.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.7% are married couples living together, 7.9% have a female householder with no husband present, and 31.1% are non-families. 26.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 13.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.36 and the average family size is 2.84. In the township the population is spread out with 19.9% under the age of 18, 7.1% from 18 to 24, 28.0% from 25 to 44, 24.5% from 45 to 64, and 20.5% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 42 years. For every 100 females there are 99.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 97.1 males. The median income for a household in the township is $49,176, and the median income for a family is $58,502. Males have a median income of $40,692 versus $27,175 for females. The per capita income for the township is $24,608. 4.5% of the population and 2.7% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 3.7% are under the age of 18 and 5.4% are 65 or older.
