Sri
Śrī (standard transliteration) or
Sri—pronounced
shree—is a
Sanskrit title of
veneration commonly prefixed to the names of
gods as well as men considered great or holy.
Śrī is sometimes translated into
English as
Lord, but this is inaccurate and it is generally agreed that
Śrī is best left untranslated.
Sri is also an alternate name of the
Hindu goddess Lakshmi.
