St. Lawrence (Toronto)
The
St. Lawrence neighbourhood of
Toronto, bounded by Yonge, Front, and Parliament Streets, and the
CN railway embankment, is a community that underwent urban regeneration in the late 1970s and early 1980s, as a result of government intervention. Planned as a mixed-use housing development, the St. Lawrence neighbourhood has been critically acclaimed as a major success in urban planning. In many ways, it has become the model for the design and planning of new communities across North America.
