Albania
There are twelve Albanian prefectures, each of which is subdivided into several districts, sometimes translated as subprefectures.
Examples: Danshui Subprefecture (淡水廳 dan4 shui3 ting1) and Ga'malan Subprefecture (噶瑪蘭廳 ga2 ma3 lan2) (both in Taiwan).
Sous-préfecture is the capital city of arrondissement. The civil servant in charge is the sous-préfet.

Chad
Examples: N'Gouri Subprefecture, Chari-Baguirmi Prefecture, and Massakory Subprefecture.China
It was used in Qing Dynasty. Called ting (廳 or 厅) in Chinese, it is also on the same level as a department (州) and a district (縣). And is below prefecture (府).France

Japan also has subprefectures called 支庁 (shicho) or 庁 (cho) in Japanese depending on prefectures. They belong to prefectures and govern subordinate cities, towns or villages.
