Sultan (solitaire)
Sultan is a solitaire card game, meaning it is played only by one person. However this game uses two packs of cards. The cards are lain out thus:
(King of Diamonds) (Ace of Hearts) (King of Diamonds)
(King of Spades) (King of Hearts) (King of Spades)
(King of Clubs) (King of Hearts) (King of Clubs)
The only card which you cannot place other cards on is the King of Hearts. The first six cards on the deck are the reserve. These are placed face up around the main design.
A move consists of:
- Taking a card out of the deck and then placing it to the stack, in other words it can't be placed.
- Taking a card out of the deck and then adding it to the design above (following on the suit-K,A,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,J,Q)
- Moving a card from the reserve into the main design (following on the suit) and then replacing it with the next card from the deck.
The idea is to have the Sultan (King of Hearts) surrounded by his Queens and only running through the deck-turning 'the deck' into 'the stack'-three times.
Strategy in the game would be not immediately taking a card from the reserve and placing it on the design, it is better to wait until there's a card you particularly want.
