1. According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.2 km² (0.5 mi²). 1.2 km² (0.4 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 4.17% water.

Demographics

\nAs of the
census of 2000, there are 383 people, 140 households, and 97 families residing in the village. The population density is 328.6/km² (843.2/mi²). There are 147 housing units at an average density of 126.1/km² (323.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 10.18% White, 88.25% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.78% from other races, and 0.78% from two or more races. 2.09% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 140 households out of which 33.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 35.7% are married couples living together, 30.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 30.7% are non-families. 27.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 16.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.74 and the average family size is 3.30. In the village the population is spread out with 33.2% under the age of 18, 8.9% from 18 to 24, 23.0% from 25 to 44, 19.8% from 45 to 64, and 15.1% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 34 years. For every 100 females there are 84.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 82.9 males.
