Svetozar Marovic

Svetozar Marović (Светозар Маровић was born March 31, 1955 in the town of Kotor) is the first president of Serbia and Montenegro.

He was elected on March 7, 2003, and had previously been a lawyer. He became a member of the parliament of Montenegro in 1990, and has been its speaker on three occasions.

He is co-founder of the pro-independence Montegrin party Democratic Party of Socialists. In November 2003 he issued on behalf of his country an apology to Bosnia-Hercegovina for atrocities committed during the war.

Svetozar Marovic is married and has two children.
