The Cingalee

The Cingalee, or Sunny Ceylon Musical, Book by James T. Tanner; Lyrics by Percy Greenbank, Adrian Ross; Music by Lionel Monckton.

This highly successful musical play by James T. Tanner, with music by Lionel Monckton and lyrics by Adrian Ross and Percy Greenbank, with additional material by Paul Rubens, opened on 5 March 1904 and ran until 11 March 1905 for a total of 365 (another source giving 391) performances. The first night cast included Hayden Coffin, Rutland Barrington, Fred Kaye, Willie Warde, Huntley Wright, Sybil Arundale Gracie Leigh, Carrie Moore, Isabel Jay and Topsy Sinden. Choreography by Willie Warde, sceanery by Hawes Craven, costumes by Percy Anderson.
