The Killing
The Killing is a fantastic heist movie that lays the groundwork for Reservoir Dogs,
Pulp Fiction and many other modern crime movies.
Though this is the only "crime" genre film that
Kubrick directed it shows that he had a great grasp of the genre.
Sterling Hayden organizes a crew to knock over a race track and things don't go exactly as planned.
The film employs a very sophisticated use of shifting time and points of view.
There's a real stand out performance by Elisha Cook Jr -- who played Wilbur in the Maltese Falcon.
