The Last Detail

The Last Detail is a 1973 film which tells the story of two United States Navy shore patrol policemen who decide to take out a young sailor for one last night on the town before he goes to jail for eight years. It stars Jack Nicholson, Otis Young, Randy Quaid, Clifton James, Carol Kane, Michael Moriarty and Nancy Allen.

The movie was adapted by Robert Towne from the novel by Darryl Ponicsan. It was directed by Hal Ashby.

It was nominated for Academy Awards for Best Actor in a Leading Role (Jack Nicholson), Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Randy Quaid) and Best Writing, Screenplay Based on Material from Another Medium.
