The Lost Weekend

The Lost Weekend is a 1945 film directed by Billy Wilder, starring Ray Milland, Jane Wyman and Phillip Terry.

It tells the story of an alcoholic, Milland, on a weekend bender.

The film received four Oscars:

• Academy Award for Best Picture - Charles Brackett, producer
• Academy Award for Best Actor - Ray Milland
• Academy Award for Directing - Billy Wilder
• Academy Award for writing, screenplay - Charles Brackett and Billy Wilder

It also received nominations for a further three Oscars:

• Academy Award for Best Cinematography, black-and-white - John F. Seitz
• Best Film Editing - Doane Harrison
• Best Music Score - Miklós Rózsa

The film also shared the 1946 Palme d'Or (Golden Palm) at the Cannes Film Festival.
