The Mosquito Coast

The Mosquito Coast was a 1986 film, directed by Peter Weir and starring Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren. It was based on a novel of the same name by the U.S writer Paul Theroux, ISBN number 0140060898.

The plot revolves around a maverick inventor, who finds little support for his inventions in the United States. As a result of this, he moves to the Mosquito Coast in Central America (presumably Nicaragua), dragging his family with him.
