The Music Man
The Music Man is a
1962 musical film based on the
Broadway show written by Meredith Willson and Franklin Lacey. It tells the story of a con man whose plan to take money from a small
Iowa town is thwarted when he falls in love. It stars Robert Preston,
Shirley Jones,
Buddy Hackett, Hermione Gingold, Paul Ford and
Ron Howard.
The movie was adapted by Marion Hargrove and directed by Morton DaCosta.
It won the Academy Award for Original Music Score and was nominated for Best Art Direction-Set Decoration, Color, Best Costume Design, Color, Best Film Editing, Best Picture and Best Sound.
