Thomas Dixon

Thomas Dixon (1864-1946) was an American author and Baptist minister.

From the South, he bitterly resented the effects of Reconstruction and glorified the exploits of the Ku Klux Klan. He wrote two racist novels The Clansman (1900) and the Leopard's Spots (1902) that presented blacks as little more than animals.

His books were later the subject of D. W. Griffith's epic movie "Birth of a Nation" (1915).
