Thomas Hopkins Gallaudet
Thomas Hopkins Gallaudet (
1787-
1851) was born in
Philadelphia. In
1805 he graduated from Yale. He wanted to do many things such as studing law, engage in trade, or study divinity. In 1814 Gallaudet became a preacher. He wanted to help the "deaf and dumb". He traveled all over the world to help many different people. This is what Gallaudet did. When he began he started out helping 7 students. This is where his school began.
Gallaudet University
Gallaudet University is a school for deaf but a school made up by a hearing man. Even though Galluadet was not deaf he had intrest in deaf people and created a new school for them.
