Treaty of Greenville
The
Treaty of Greenville was signed between a coalition of
Native American tribes and the
United States following the Native American loss at the
Battle of Fallen Timbers. The United States was represented by
Anthony Wayne, the
General who defeated Native Americans and razed their villages a year earlier at Fallen Timbers. In exchange for monetary compesnation the Native Americans turned over to the United States:
White settlers largely ignored the boundaries of this treaty, and after its signing settlements sprang up quickly in Native American territory.
