Turiec
Turiec (in Latin: Thurotzium, in German: Turz, in Hungarian: Túrótz) is the name of a historic administrative county in northern Slovakia from a time when Slovakia was part of Hungary. Today only an informal designation of the corresponding territory. Situated along the entire Turiec river between the Malá Fatra and Veľká Fatra Mountains.
Turiec is also the name of a river (66,3 km) in northern Slovakia, entering into the Vah in the town of Martin and having its source in the Veľká Fatra Mountains.
