UNICAMP The State University of Campinas, a young and modern higher learning public institution with campuses in the cities Campinas, Limeira and Piracicaba, in the state of São Paulo, Brazil.
Considered one of the best and most productive research and educational institutions in Latin America, UNICAMP has courses, colleges and institutes in Medicine, Nursing, Speech Therapy, Dentistry, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics (Pure, Applied and Computational), Statistics, Computer Sciences, Engineering (Chemical, Food, Eletrical, Computer, Mechanical, Agricultural and Civil), Architecture, Geology, Economy, Arts, Music, Letters, Linguistics, Philosophy, History and Social Sciences. It has also two professional vocational schools.
UNICAMP is also unique among other Brazilian universities for its interdisciplinary program, which maintains a semi-independent structure of more than 20 centers, labs and groups, such as the Center for Biomedical Informatics, the Center for Informatics in Education, etc.
In 2000, the University had 11,185 undergraduate students and 9,169 graduate students enrolled in the different courses and a faculty includes 1,800 professors.
