United Fiji Party
The
United Fiji Party (
Fijian:
Soqosoqo Duavata ni Lewenivanua) is a political party in
Fiji. It was founded in
2001 by Prime Minister
Laisenia Qarase as a power base. It draws its support mainly from indigenous Fijiians.
In the 2001 elections, it was the second largest party with its 26% of the vote, but became the largest party in Parliament, with 32 out of 71 seats.
