He purchased the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) from his father, Vince McMahon, Sr in 1983 and then expanded professional wrestling across the United States.
He was put on trial in 1994 accused of distributing steroids to professional wrestlers. As a legal move, his wife Linda was made CEO of the WWF during the trial. He was later acquitted of all charges.
In 1999, he took the WWF public.
In May 2002, he changed the WWF's name to World Wrestling Entertainment in the midst of a lawsuit with the World Wildlife Fund.
His two children, Stephanie and Shane, are both involved with the WWE.
