Walker (film)
Walker is a
movie by
British director
Alex Cox based on the life story of
William Walker, the American fillibuster who invaded
Mexico in the
1850s and made himself
President of
Nicaragua shortly thereafter.
The film stars
Ed Harris,
Marlee Matlin (as Walker's mute lover Ellen Martin), Peter Boyle (as
Cornelius Vanderbilt, his financier), and Miguel Sandoval (as Parker French).
It was written by Rudy Wurltizer (PAT GARRETT & BILLY THE KID, TWO LANE BLACKTOP), produced by Lorenzo O'Brien, and photographed by Dave Bridges.
The film, which is full of anachronisms such as helicopters and zippo lighters, was made in
Nicaragua during the American-sponsored Contra War.
