Washshukanni
Washshukanni was the capital of the
Mitanni empire (c.
1500 BC). Also spelled as
Wassukkani, or
Vasukhani, the
Sanskrit phrase for "a mine of wealth." Its precise location is uknown, but it is widely thought to have existed on one of the tributaries of the
Khabur River. Some scholars believe it later became known as the ancient city
Sikan, which exists today at the site of Tell Fekheriyeh near Gozan in
Syria.
