Webster County is bounded in the north by Lewis County, West Virginia and Upshur County, West Virginia, in the northeast by Randolph County, West Virginia, in the east by Pocahontas County, West Virginia, in the south by Greenbrier County, West Virginia, in the southwest by Nicholas County, West Virginia and in the northwest by Braxton County, West Virginia.
Demographics
\nAs of the census2 of 2000, there are 9,719 people, 4,010 households, and 2,815 families residing in the county. The population density is 7/km² (18/mi²). There are 5,273 housing units at an average density of 4/km² (10/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 99.18% White, 0.01% Black or African American, 0.07% Native American, 0.06% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.01% from other races, and 0.66% from two or more races. 0.37% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 4,010 households out of which 29.80% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.40% are married couples living together, 10.60% have a female householder with no husband present, and 29.80% are non-families. 26.50% of all households are made up of individuals and 12.40% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older.
