West Falmouth is a village located in the town of Falmouth in Barnstable County, Massachusetts. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 1,867.

Geography

West Falmouth is located at 41°35'59" North, 70°38'16" West (41.599628, -70.637812)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 11.4 km² (4.4 mi²). 8.2 km² (3.2 mi²) of it is land and 3.2 km² (1.2 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 28.18% water.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there are 1,867 people, 835 households, and 558 families residing in the village. The population density is 228.1/km² (590.8/mi²). There are 1,278 housing units at an average density of 156.2/km² (404.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 97.86% White, 0.43% African American, 0.05% Native American, 0.70% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.32% from other races, and 0.64% from two or more races. 0.86% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 835 households out of which 19.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.9% are married couples living together, 7.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 33.1% are non-families. 27.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 12.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.21 and the average family size is 2.66.

In the village the population is spread out with 17.5% under the age of 18, 3.6% from 18 to 24, 20.3% from 25 to 44, 34.2% from 45 to 64, and 24.4% who are 65 years of age or older.
