Bolsover

Bolsover is a town and a borough in Derbyshire, England. THe borough has a population of 70,000 inhabitants. It is 145 miles from London and 54 miles from Manchester.

Bolsover has had a castle since the Norman period, which was originally the seat of the Peveril family. The first Peveril was the son of Norman William the Conqueror. The exiting building was erected in 1613.

The major industry of the area used to be coal mining but this has declined throughout all of England. Bolsover Colliery closed in 1993.

The MP for Bolsover is Dennis Skinner (Labour) who is known as the 'Beast of Bolsover'.
