His name is a shortening of "Bulb Dinosaur." His Japanese name, Fushigidane, probably means "Mystery Seed."
In Pokémon Red/Blue, Bulbasaur is one of the starter Pokémon, together with Charmander and Squirtle.
In Pokémon Yellow, Bulbasaur is not a starter; rather, it's obtained in Cerulean City. In Pokémon Gold/Silver/Crystal, Bulbasaur must be obtained through trading with another cartridge. In Pokémon Sapphire/Ruby, Bulbasaur is not available at all.
Bulbasaur also appears in the Nintendo 64 game Pokémon Snap.
Bulbasaur is vulnerable to Ice, Bug, Fire, Psychic and Flying, and strong against Water, Electric, Grass, and Fighting.Availability
