Calder Memorial Trophy

The Calder Memorial Trophy, is presented annually to the voted best rookie in the National Hockey League.

It is named so because former NHL President Frank Calder used to present a trophy permanently every year to the NHL's most proficient first year player. By Calder's death in 1943, a new trophy made in his memory to be presented every year perpetually to the NHL's best rookie.

Barret Jackman of the St. Louis Blues is the 2003 Calder Memorial Trophy winner.
