Cancer Coast
The
Cancer Coast is a moniker given by Oncologists at the
Texas Medical Center in
Houston and members of the Houston-area
media to a region of the Texas Gulf Coast stretching from the
Sabine River to the southern boundary of
Brazoria County and reaching 20 to 50 miles inland.
Oncologists and media postulate that the cancer clusters evident in this area might be caused by the high concentration of petrochemical plants.
