Chimay is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Hainaut. On January 1, 2002, Chimay had a total population of 9,867 (4,805 males and 5,062 females). The total area is 198.19 km² which gives a population density of 49.79 inhabitants per km².
It is well known internationally for the distinctive beers and cheeses of the same name, which were originally produced in the monastery in the town. Chimay is also the name of the Trappist beer made in this monastery.
