Mission UK (in the US) and the Mission (in the UK) is a Gothic rock band formed in 1986 by Wayne Hussey and Craig Adams (both of The Sisters of Mercy), soon adding Mick Brown (of Red Lorry Yellow Lorry) and Simon Hinkler (of Artery). They called themselves "the Mission", but had to change it to "Mission UK" for their American releases. Their debut album was God's Own Medicine, a hit in the UK in spite of critical derision for perceived pomposity and excessive similarities to Yes and Led Zeppelin. Their second album was Children, another British hit. A series of personnel problems didn't keep the group from continuing to record, though by 1992, only Hussey was left from the original line-up.
