Oghuz Turks
The
Oghuz Turks (also Ğuz and with various other spellings) were one of the four major branches of
Turks in the
10th century. During the Turkish migration in the
10th,
11th and
12th century the Oghuz were among those Turks who migrated south towards
Persia instead of east to
Mongolia and
China. The migration was a matter of dispute among the Oghuz and the people divided. Those who migrated followed Seljuk and became
Seljuk Turks.
