Sangh Parivar
The
Sangh Parivar is a loose "family" of organisations, including political parties, which promote the ideology of
Hindutva, a nationalist movement based around the
Hindu religion, which had its origins in the late nineteenth century
independence struggles against the
British Empire.
Sangh organisations are considered to be on the political "right" wing. They are frequently accused by their opponents of being fascist groups, and have at times had direct contact with and occasionally expressed admiration for other fascist movements (e.g. Nazi Germany, or Benito Mussolini's Italy).
