Stora Enso is a Finnish-Swedish pulp and paper manufacturer, formed by the merger of Swedish mining and forestry products company Stora and Finnish forestry products company Enso in 1998. It has approximately 42,500 employees and in 2002 it was the fifth largest company in the world in its field.
In 2000 the company acquired U.S. company Consolidated Papers, Inc. In 2000 Stora Enso and AssiDomän formed a joint company, Billerud, to produce packaging paper.
