The racial makeup of the town is 24.11% White, 74.02% Black or African American, 0.37% Native American, 0.09% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 1.40% from two or more races. 1.12% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 385 households out of which 29.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 38.4% are married couples living together, 23.9% have a female householder with no husband present, and 30.4% are non-families. 27.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.78 and the average family size is 3.42.
