Ullapool

Ullapool is a small town in the County of Cromartyshire in the western Scottish Highlands. Despite its small size, it is the largest settlement for many miles around.

Ullapool was founded in 1788 as a herring port, on the east shore of Loch Broom. The harbour is still the centre of the town, used as a fishing port, yachting haven and ferry port with boats to Stornoway in the Outer Hebrides. The town also boasts a small museum, an arts centre, a swimming pool and plenty of pubs, and is a centre for walkers and other holidaymakers in the area.
