Video game player
A
video game player is a person who plays
video games or sometimes
computer games. A video game player who plays video games as a regular hobby or routine almost everyday is a full-time gamer, and one who does not play them that often is a part-time gamer. Video game players are mostly from Generations
X and
Y. According to the Entertainment Software Association, an average video game player was born in 1974. Some video game players have criticized 2004 Democratic Presidential candidate
Joseph Lieberman for
his stance on video gaming. Also, many video game players are opposed to certain Christian denominations, notably
Jehovah's Witnesses and Seventh Day Adventists, for their stance on video gaming. Many video game players were born to parents who practice those religions. Video gaming is a traditionally male hobby. Until the 1990's, female video game players were very rare. Today, 30 percent of PC gamers and 20 percent of console gamers are female. Video game players who think that older video games are more fun than newer ones are called
old school gamers, and those who think vice versa are called
new school gamers.
